New Zealand

My first trip out of Australia was to New Zealand (in 1967-68).

Trips to New Zealand
1.  1967-68 - on a 4-week camping trip - South and North Islands - Christchurch to Christchurch.
2. 1999  -  we transited Augland airport on our way home from Los Angeles at the end of our round-the-world trip.
3. 2004 -  we stayed one night in Auckland on our way to Tahiti and South America at the start of our round-the-world trip.
4. 2005 -  we transited Augland airport on our way to and from South America and Antarctica.
5. 2007 -  we transited Augland airport on our way to and from South America.
6. 2012 -  we toured the South Island for 22 days while attending Ben an Crystal's wedding in Queenstown.
7. 2014 -  a 10-day trip to Queenstown to mind Matilda while Ben and Crystal ran in the 60km Kepler ultramarathon.

Some 2004 Photos

Two excited travellers on board the Qantas 767 on their way from Melbourne to Auckland on the first of 21 jet flights on our 56-day around-the-world trip.
(Melbourne - Auckland-Tahiti-Easter Island-Santiago-Peru-Buenos Aires-Iguassu Falls-Rio Janerio-London-St Petersburg-London-Singapore - Melbourne).

We stayed one night in Auckland and the next morning we went to Kellie Tartlon's Antarctica display and aquarium.

From Auckland we had a 5-hour flight to Papeete in Tahiti.

In July 2012 we flew to New Zealand for Ben and Crystal's wedding.
We spent 3 weeks touring the South Island.

Our first night in Queenstown was cold ...


We were very impressed with the freshness and cleanliness of Te Anau.
It just stood out as a lovely place.
 



Milford Sound






Moeraki Boulders - Located on Koekoke Beach about 75km north of Dunedin, these boulders are a striking sight.



We stayed at The Hermitage Hotel near Mount Cook.


We visited the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch.


Christchurch Catedral suffered massive damage
in the 22nd February 2011 earthquake.

In December 2014, Ben and Crystal invited us to meet them in Queenstown so that we could mind Matilda while the both ran in the 60km Kepler Ultramarathon.
