In 1985 I trasitted Taipei airport in Taiwan on my way from Hong Kong to Kyoto in Japan.
Taiwan has had a long and dramatic relationship with the United Nations.
As the Republic of China (ROC) it was one of the founding members of the UN in 1945.
It lost its seat at the National Security Council to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1971.
