Trips to Switzerland
1.  1985 - I first visited Switzerland during my Western Europe tour.
2. 1999 - We visited Switzerland on our Western European tour during our first around-the-world trip.

1985 photos
Taking long service leave for the middle school term in 1985 I went on my first trip to Europe.
 (A 13-week Melbourne - Bangkok - Hong Kong -Taipei - Japan - Trans Siberian Railway - UK - Athens -
Israel - Egypt - Western Europe - Singapore - Melbourne trip.)

On our Western European tour we passed through the edge of the Black Forest in Germany on to the Swiss border at Basel.
As it was a cloudy, hazy day we could not see much of the Black Forest.

Lucerne
Lucerne is in a very picturesque setting.
The Chapel Bridge in Lucerne.

The view from our hotel in Staus, a village near Lucerne.

The Dying Lion Monument at Lucerne.
It was carved by a Danish sculptor in 1821 and is in memory of the Swiss guards
who were murdered in Paris when they were guarding Marie Antoinette.

The house on Lake Lucerne where Wagner wrote some of his musical compositions.

Notice the covered freeway in the background.

One of the 4 separate cable car trips that it takes to get to the top of the 10,000 ft. Mt. Titlis.

From Lucerne we crossed intoThe Principality of Liechtenstein.

1999 Photos

(99-days - Melbourne - Bangkok - Frankfurt - Moscow - St. Petersburg - Stockholm  - Helsinki - Copenhagen - Malaga - London -
Western Europe - UK - Egypt - Jordan - Israel - Greece - New York - Las Vegas - Melbourne).

Again on a Western European tour we passed through the edge of the Black Forest in Germany
on to the Swiss border at Basel and on to Lucerne.
