Slovakia - 2017
We
visited Bratislava on our first
Operatif Music Lovers
tour in June 2017.
(Europe - Operatif Bohemian
Rhapsody Tour)
(Melbourne - Dubai - Munich - Salzburg - Český Krumlov -
Prague - Vienna - Bratislava - Budapest - Dubai - Melbourne).
We travelled from Vienna in Austria to Bratislava by bus.
Bratislava
The Old Slovak National
Theatre where we saw Mozart's opera,
Abduction from the
Seraglio.
We
stayed at the
Carlton Hotel
(a Radisson
Hotel), right on the main city square, a one
minute stroll to the old Opera House.
Cumil
The sign may say "man at
work", but it is unclear, however, if
this man is intended to be a spy or just someone out to watch the
ladies!
Rubbing his nose is said to bring good luck.
We saw
Mozart's opera, Abduction
from the
Seraglio, at the Old Slovak
National Theatre.
It was a 1-minute stroll back to our hotel after the opera.
Bratislava Castle
The
castle's site, like today's city, has been inhabited
for thousands of years,
because it is strategically located in the
centre of Europe between the Carpathians and the Alps.
It is near an important ford used to cross the Danube river.
Parts of the castle, which overlooks the
city, were built in the 9th
century.
