Szentendre
Island (Hungary)
Szentendre
Island is an island in the between the Danube Bend and Budapest in
Hungary. It is 31 km
long with an area of 56 km². We
stopped off here to go to Bodor Major, a tourist farm on the island.
We were taken in horse-drawn wagons from the dock to the farm (about 1
km).
The farm had won a number of awards for their
carriages
in show competitions.
Most of them had been built recently as they had foot-operated
disc-brakes.
We were entertained by a Hungarian trio while
we had plum
brandy, strawberry wine,
Hungarian pizzas, Hungarian Goulash and Hugarian sweets.
Then there was a great equestrian and animal
show.
A chariot with
4-in-the-hand.
Bullock cart.
Donkey cart.
A foot on each horse.
This was one of the highlights of the 29-hour Uniworld trip.
