Pecs

After the Ottoman era ended in 1687, Pecs has developed as a university and cultural city.
Located near the Croatian border, it is the fifth largest city in Hungary.


One ot the gate towers (The Barbakán) that was part of the fortifications in the Ottoman era.

Liszt once lived here.











At the Victor Vasarely Museum.
He was born in Pecs and is considered to be the "grandfather" of the short-lived op-art movement.



























Once an Ottoman mosque, this building is now a Christian church.
It is said to be the only Christian church that has an Islamic crescent on top.






The city square has a number of fountains.
