Pamukkale  -  2002

The limestone terraces (travertines) at Pamukkale.
Hot mineral rich waters flow over a plateau edge. The whole area must have been vast in Roman times.
We were able to walk in bare feet in the pools along the top.

The city gate on the way into Pamukkale.
There were xtensive ruins with a large number of mausoleums and tombs.

Near the limestone terraces there was a hotel with a swimming pool where you could swim among the sunken columns.

While we visited  Pamukkale, Turkey won another match in the 2002 World Cup soccer.
Turkey made it all the way to the semi-finals.  Unfortunately they lost to Brazil.
Germany beat Brazil in the final.
