Rio de Janeiro - 2004
Cococabana

In April-May 2004 we had our third around-the-world trip. In 54 days we travelled to Auckland, Tahiti, Easter Island,
Santiago, Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Sillustani, Lake Titicaca, Puno, Cusco, Sacsayhuman, Tambomachay, Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes,
Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo,
Posada Amazonas, Ica, Nazca, Paracas, Ballestas Islands, Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Itaipu Dam,
Rio de Janeiro,
London, St. Petersburg and Singapore.

Copacabana Beach, which, according to The Lonely Planet, is the world's most famous beach, is adjacent to Ipanema.
We walked along the 4.5km length of the beach.

There were plenty of street vendors.

Beach volleyball first started at Copacabana.

A balmy night for a stroll.
The sinuous pattern of the Copacabana footpath was designed by Burle Marx, Brazil's most famous landscape designer.

The paving is rough on the dog's feet too.

We had a look inside - lots of photos of well known guests.
