Venezuela
In July-August
2007, a fortnight after Drew was born (and after
we visited him in Perth), we visited South America for our third time.
(59-days - Melbourne - Auckland - Santiago - Buenos Aires
(Argentina) - Iguassu Falls (Argentina and Brazil) - Buenos
Aires
- Salta -
Atacama Desert (Argentina and Chile) - Santiago - Quito (Ecuador) -
Galapagos Islands - Quito - Bogata (Colombia) - Cartagena (Colombia)
- Bogata - Caracas (Venezuela) - Angel Falls
(Venezuela) - Caracas - Santiago - Auckland - Melbourne)
From Bogota in Colombia we flew to Caracas in Venezuela and stayed overnight at Maiquetia,
a beach city, near the airport.
The next day we flew to Puerto Ordaz in a jet and then on to Canaima (Angel Falls) in a Cessna 12-seater plane.
Angel Falls was the highlight of the whole 8-week South America trip in 2007.
And so back to Maiquetia after a wonderful 3 days at Angel Falls.
After a night in Maiquetia we flew back to Santiago in Chile via Lima in Peru.
