Dokan village homestay -
Sumatra - 2011
We stayed overnight in this longhouse at Dokan village.
The house was over 200 years old.
8 families lived in the house.
They shared 4 cooking areas.
35 people normally live in the house!!
Great-grandfather, 93 years old, and great-grandmother, 90.

So tonight there were nearly 50 people sleeping in the house.

Ira came with us for most of the rest of the trip as a volunteer guide.
She spoke excellent English.
