Palau Weh - Sumatra - 2011

From Banda Aceh we cruised to Pulau Weh in a high-speed catamaran.
It took about an hour.
Pulau Weh (or Sabang as the locals call it) is an island just north of Sumatra.
It is known for its diving and snorkelling sites.
We stayed at Freddies, a rustic resort run by an expat South African.

The view from my room.

A WW2 Japanese bunker,  just outside my room.

A lazy tourist

The local fishermen have interesting boats.

We went snorkelling at a beach here, but there were few fish, and little colourful coral.

Leaving Pulau Weh, heading back to Banda Aceh.

Some interesting signs at Banda Aceh airport

From Banda Aceh we flew back to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
The next day I flew to Bali to start my IntrepidTravel week-long tour of Lombok.
