Fossil Site at Nieu Bethesda - 2009
At Nieu Bethesda, about half way between Johannesburg and Cape Town, is a fossil museum.
We were taken on a walk by the local guide and shown many fossils in the rocks.
This area is part of the Karoo region of South Africa, a palaeontologist's delight.
Fossils discovered here have enhanced the Gondwana theory which has Australia,
Antarctica, South America and India all connected with Africa (the great southern land mass).
