From Lake Nakuru in Kenya my tour travelled over poor
roads
to Eldoret and the next day
we crossed the border into Uganda and travelled on
to Jinja.
Uganda appeared to me as a country with rich soil and
abundant rainfall.
The landscapes, with their terraced fields and tropical crops, looked
very similar to those on Java
that I had seen earlier in the year.
However unlike Java where oxen and some tractors are seen ploughing the
land, I did not see either in Uganda.
Also there were far fewer motorcycles than in Asia.
At the Equator in Uganda
Considerable amounts of the farmed land was terraced and
the landscapes
were similar to those that I have seen in Asia and South
America
