Indira
Priyadarshini Gandhi, born Indira Nehru on 19 November 1917, was the
third Prime Minister
of India.
She was Prime Minister for three consecutive terms from 1966
to 1977
and for a fourth term from 1980 until her assassination in
1984.
A total of fifteen years, she is the world's longest serving
female Prime Minister.
Her bedroom and study
Her son, Rajiv, and his wife, Sonia, and their 2 children
lived in a wing of the house.
Rajiv
Ratna Gandhi was the sixth Prime Minister of India,
serving from October 1984 to December 1989.
He took office after his mother's assassination on October 31, 1984.
Unfortunately he also was assassinated on May 21, 1991.
At the age of 40, he
became the youngest Prime Minister of India.
He
was an airline pilot and an amateur radio operator with the callsign
VU2RRG.
