Situated in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is India's largest and
best-known mosque.
It was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan,
builder of the
Taj Mahal,
and completed in 1656.
More like an large open verandah than the massive mosques in Instanbul,
it is built of red sandstone and marble.
