On
the way from Kumily to Kumarakon we had morning tea at a cafe at a
lookout area on the roadside.
There was a busload of honeymooning couples also having morning tea.
A couple of beautiful recent brides.
No, not the honeymooner's bus ... it was a modern bus.
This was a busload of pilgrims touring religious sites.
A cattle-market by the road-side.
A rubber plantation.
Kumarakom Bird
Sanctuary
At Kumarakon we stayed at a beautiful resort run by an Islamic family.
It had an "infinity" pool.
The open dining area.
The cylinder in the lower right-hand corner is the
plate-warmer where you got you plate for the buffet meal.
Not that the plate needed to be warm as we were back in the humidity of
the coast.
From Kumarakom Resort we cruised through the Kerala
Backwaters to our next resort, Allepey.
We stopped off on the way for a toddy (a coconut juice
liquor) and a cooked prawn.
Kayaloram Resort at Alleppey.
The rooms in the Kayaloram resort in Alleppay were built in the local
tradition with no nails in their construction.
Even the doors had large wooden hinges and wooden lock fittings.
