We travelled on a local bus and then in open
jeeps from Agra to Mahhogarh.
Some village scenes along the way.
??? ... in the front of the bus
A pharmacy.
I was surprised to see domesticated camels.
There were a number of brickworks along the way.
Fort Madhogarh
A place of faded grandeur, the fort belongs to the royal
family of
Rajasthan.
Royalty has no official standing in India now.
It was a fantastic experience to stay here.
A red-carpet Rajasthan welcome to the fort.
Our foreheads were painted with vermillion, women with a dot, men with
a stripe.
As well we had bougainvillea petals sprinkled in our hair.
Animesh,
our tour-leader.
We were
serenaded by
musicians before and during dinner.
The turban
started as a long
scarf-like piece of material. It took them
nearly half an hour to
wind and twist it onto my head.
Dressed
for a Rajasthan
dinner.
Madhogarh Village
We walked down the hill from Madhogarh Fort to
Madhogarh
village.
This area is not on the tourist trail and IntrepidTravel are keen to
keep it this way.
Just as with my earlier trip to Burmain
July,
a major
highlight was walking through villages.
The children loved having their photos taken and having their
photos shown to them on the camera display.
The older people having seen the photos wanted their photo taken too.
A fantastic walk.
A brickworks in the distance.
The village school.
Health messages ... exercise, eat healty, do not smoke ....
A sturdy tank-stand.
The next morning we travelled through larger towns to Jaipur.
This is a dual-lane highway. Can you see why you cannot
average much above 50kph?
