Varkala - 2010

Varkala is a laid-back beach-side town, where the main attractions for
backpackers are located on the cliff-tops overlooking the beach.

I had a swim in the Arabian Sea here along with lots of floating plastic bags.

I enjoyed fish meals while I was staying here.

In Varkala town we visited Sivagiri Mutt, an ashram devoted to Sree Narayana Guru (1855 - 1928),
 Kerala's most prominent guru.
A social reformer, he was instrumental in removing the caste system in India.

Again we stayed at a most pleasant resort, only a 5-minute walk to the beach.
