Osh - 2013

Osh is the 2nd largest city in Kyrgyzstan.

The Sulayman Mountain in Osh is a major place of Islamic and pre-Islamic pilgimage.
Sulayman
(Solomon) is a prophet in the Quran.
The mountain contains a shrine that supposedly marks Sulayman's grave.

She wanted her picture taken with me.

The Russians blasted a hollow inside the rock to create space for a small museum.

The small mausoleum marking Sulayman's grave was originally built by Babur in 1510.

Women who ascend to the shrine on top and slide twice across this holy rock (mother's cradle), will, according to legend,
give birth to healthy children.

From Osh we said goodbye to our guide, Veronika, and driver, Maxim, and crossed the nearby border into Uzbekistan
where we met our new guide Rustum.
