From Bishkek we drove south through the Tien-Shan Mountains towards Osh.
Too-AShuu
Pass, 3586m above
sea-level. The
pass is a part of the Kyrgyz
Alatau
range of the Tien
Shan
mountains.
Heather, our former teaching colleague (and now a grandmother), rode
along these roads in 2006.
She rode the other way - from Osh to Bishkek as part of her bicycle
trip from Beijing to Istanbul.
(She later completed her trip from Istanbul to Paris).
This was the only part of her trip that coincided
with ours.
At our rustic hotel in the Chychkan
Nature Reserve.
A primitive hydro-electric plant powered the hotel.
