Dublin - 2014
We visited Ireland on our 48-day Melbourne – Dubai – Dublin – Ireland – Amsterdam –
Rhine-Main-Danube River cruise – Istanbul – Dubai - Melbourne trip in June 2014.

We spent a night in Dubai before we flew to Dublin.

Some of the smart (and expensive) Georgian properties near our Dublin hotel, the Ballsbridge Hotel.

We went for a walk through St. Stephens Green and the Grafton Street shopping mall.

After a short city tour to start our 10-day tour of Ireland, we had a dinner cruise on a canal near our Dublin hotel.

Completed in 1803, the 130km Grand Canal links Dublin in the east with the River Shannon in the west of Ireland.
The last working cargo barge passed through the Grand Canal in 1960.

The highlight was passing through a lock.

They had a good display of bog bodies (well preserved, mummified bodies found in peat swamps).
