Oslo - 2015
After 3 nights in Bergen, we flew to Oslo.
I liked the simple windows at our hotel, the Clarion
Collection
Folketeateret Hotel.
It had once been a theatre and was right in the heart of Oslo.
Oslo has a clean, modern metro raiway.
We visited the Munch Gallery, but were not allowed to take
photos
inside.
Edvard Munch (1863 - 1944) was a Norwegian painter and print-maker.
Edvard Munch was a prolific yet perpetually troubled artist
preoccupied with matters of human mortality such as chronic illness,
sexual liberation, and religious aspiration.
He expressed these
obsessions through works of intense color, semi-abstraction, and
mysterious subject matter.
They had a Wollemi Pine tree in the glass house in their
Botanic
Gardens.
A charging station for
electric cars.
I liked this!!
Nobel
Peace Centre
The Nobel Peace Center
(Norwegian: Nobels Fredssenter), in Oslo
Norway, is a showcase for the Nobel Peace Prize and the ideals it
represents.
The Nobel Peace Prize is
presented at a ceremony in the nearby Oslo City Hall each year.
All of the other Nobel Prizes are presented in Stockholm, Sweden.
Malala
Yousafzai shared the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize
for her human rights advocacy for education
and for women in her native Swat Valley in northwest Pakistan.
The school uniform Malala wore when she was shot by the Taliban.
You could read about all of
the previous prize winners on these brilliantly presented iPad-like
displays.
Oslo
City Hall
Oslo City Hall (Norwegian: Oslo rådhus) houses the city
council, city administration, and art studios and galleries.
Construction started in 1931, but was interrupted by the
outbreak
of World War II, before the official inauguration in 1950.
Its characteristic architecture, artworks and the Nobel Peace
Prize ceremony, held on 10 December, makes it one of Oslo's most famous
buildings
