Atacama Desert (Chile)
We visited the Atacama Desert during our
8-week tour of South America in August 2007.
The Atacama is the
driest desert in the
world. It
only rained here once in 2006.
Moon Valley ... resembles moonscapes

Geysers
We got up at 3.45am for
the 2 hour 4WD trip to see these geysers. The
rising steam is best seen in the cold air at dawn. It was very,
very, cold (-8 deg C). The coldest that
we have ever been!!
We
were able to have a dip in a warm spring ...
Our son Ben, and his
girl-friend (now his wife) Crystal, met us and the four of us
toured together for two weeks in Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
