Desert Oaks
(Kurkara)
(Allocasurina descaisneana)

We all loved them.

These 8-12 metre high picturesque trees display a broad
weeping canopy which adds to their beauty.

Canning used their timber where possible in the construction of the wells on the Canning Stock Route
because termites do not attack them.

While they are widespread in the desert, these photos were taken about 100 km west of the WA-NT border.
