Coatis

A type of raccoon, their range extends from southern USA to northern Argentina.
They have a long snout and a long, striped, tapered tail.

Several coatis may share a nest.

While the male prefers to travel alone, the females and their young tend to travel in bands of  4 to 50.

Coatis are omnivorous. They will eat almost anything that is edible: mice, rats, insects, worms, fruits, and seeds.
After a troupe finds a fruit-bearing tree such as a manzanita or prickly pear it will visit the tree daily until it is stripped.
