In April 2000 the Easter school holidays continued on to
Anzac Day, so we had the opportunity to have a 2½-week
holiday in California.
We flew to Sydney to Los Angeles and on to San Francisco. After 3 days
visiting the sights there and at Monterey we caught an Amtrack
train to Modesto and a bus to Yosemite National Park.
The 750m high
Yosemite Falls are the highest in North America and the 5th highest in
the world. Yosemite
Falls roaring behind our lodge at Yosemite National Park.
Half
Dome is a well-known rock formation in the park, named for its distinct
shape.
It rises 1450m above the valley floor.
